If you are asking, “Should I learn java?” or are looking for a way to learn java online free, then this article is for you. This site offers a great introduction to java for those looking for the best java tutorial to teach them java programming basics. But, onto the topic at hand, many ask: "What Are The 10 Signs I Are Going to Become a Coder When You Grow Up" This article will attempt to answer that question and encourage those on the fence on whether they should learn java online (or any learn any coding language online) I personally have about 2 years programming experience starting at 16 years old so I feel semi-qualified to answer this question. (you can read more about me here) Anyway, below are the signs that you may possibly become a coder when you grow up. 1.) You are a problem solver best way to learn java programming If you enjoy solving problems, then it is an indicator that you will be well suited as a coder someday. Java programming requires you to solve problems on your own, and at the same time take into consideration the budget and deadline. This balancing act of multiple concerns and problems means that to succeed at learning programming you must be an acute problem solver. Being a great problem solver makes things so much easier... ...many wonder "how hard is it to learn to program" but what they should really assess is not the "difficulty" of learning programming. They should assess their own abilities to overcome problems. Because that's all programming is. Problem-solving. All day, everyday. And if you love to overcome challenges and dominate your barriers to growth then you will love the rush of learning to code. 2.) You love talking to people Gone are the days when programmers are loners. Coders need to explain complex problems to clients and colleagues as well as solve them One also needs to know who to speak in simple terms, as well as the technical language, depending who you are talking to. This fluency is essential in making the whole software development process as streamlined as possible for your team as well as the end user. It is ok to be shy to some extent, but eventually you should learn to become a tactful communicator at least over email... ...being adept at communicating with others effectively is a great skill to have in today's programming job-sector. This isn't a must because if you are great at anything you do, it'll overcome any deficiency you have personally. But being a great communicator is very beneficial to working with others to produce powerful, experience-driven software. Read the rest on my site... ____________________________________________________________________ http:/www.javaprogrammingforbeginners.com/ Looking for a way to learn java online free for a while or the best way to learn java online? Then check out my site where I talk about how I learned Java and Android development at only 16 years old with Team Treehouse!

"How long will it take me to make my first Android or iOS app??" "What is the best programming language to learn as a beginner???" And first off let me say that I am by no means a Commons Ware caliber coder. I'm just a regular guy who wanted to make an app 2 years ago and made my first app 1 1/2 months shortly after (it was crappy though)... ...The thing is that I'm still a beginner to coding (Java and Android app development specifically) but not a complete beginner. I have about 2 years of on and off Java experience and about 6-12 solid months specialized in Android app development at the time of this article's writing. But this is exactly why I made this site: To help beginners enter the initially confusing world of coding by providing my advice being down the path (but not too far down) you will soon take. Sometimes experts just can't understand what it is like to be a beginner and as a beginner when you see these coding geniuses on Stack Overflow it can be intimidating. But with that aside let's get into the topic... How Hard Is It To Learn To Code (Java, Android, etc...)? The real and true answer to this question can only be another question. I'm personally analytical as f*ck so I dislike taking polarized sides to any issue... ...I'd rather break it down for you so you can decide the answer for yourself Before even approaching this question we must first decide what "hard" actually means. When you ask this question it likely means one of these: Is it beyond my ability to overcome the challenges presented by learning to code? Does learning to code require a special skill that I do not possess thereby making it impossible for me to do it? Will it take so long to learn that the opportunity cost of learning to code will be too much? Is my dedication and mental fortitude of a level at which I can achieve this goal of learning to program? These are only a few that come to mind and they might not be very accurate, but the point I'm trying to get at is that... ...you should never look at what you are asking, you should look at the motivation and why behind what you are asking. Enough of the analytical bullsh*t, here is my personal opinion on learning Java or Android as a pure beginner. Your Ability To Learn Programming Comes Down To 2 Factors... 1.) Your ability to be a dynamic problem solver that never shys away from overcoming obstacles A mouthful right?... But from my experience coding is literally this: problem-solving. Every second, hour, day, week, month, and year you code, you will be hit with a crap ton of problems: Programs will blow up in your face You'll search your program for 6 hours to find a bug except...you just forgot to add a period to a statement You structured your program in a way where it is unfriendly to people revising it You'll search online for hours just to be confused more by monstrous blocks of code made by professional programmers You forgot to optimize your app for tablets and people with tablets now passionately hate you And much more...... This is not to say that you can't enjoy ******Read the rest on my site...****** ____________________________________________________________________ http://javaprogrammingforbeginners.com Check out my site here to see my article "Team TreeHouse Review 2017: A SneakPeek Inside The Android and Java Online Courses". 17. Do You Need A Superstar Coder? // There are some very talented coders out there. Should you get one? Or should you steer clear? → SUBSCRIBE for a NEW EPISODE every WEDNESDAY: http://www.DevelopmentThatPays.com/-/subscribe The Advent of Code (see link below) is a series of 25 coding tests. I managed to battle my way through them, but I didn't break any speed records. (Unless, of course, they're handing out awards for slowness.) I was surprised by how many people took part in the challenge (at the time of writing 25,000+ people have started the test, and 1,400+ people have completed it. I was also surprised - and humbled - to see how quickly some of the challenges were solved. Clearly, there are some very talented coders out there. Which begs the question: Should you hire one? LINKS -- Advent of Code: http://adventofcode.com/ Music: 260809 Funky Nurykabe: ccmixter.org/files/jlbrock44/29186 Just before Xmas, I stumbled upon rather wonderful called the Advent of Code - it's an advent calendar of 25 coding challenges. I'm in the process of learning a new programming language - Go (also known as Golang) - so the Advent of Code was a perfect opportunity to test out my new skills. So far - I'm on Day 22 out of 25 - none of the challenges have beaten me. But some of them took me a heck of a long time to crack. The Advent of Code has a leaderboard. I discovered to my horror that one of the challenges had been cracked in a mere 17 minutes. There are clearly some very talented coders out there. Which got me thinking. How good does a coder need to be My coder rating --- Hi this is Gary. Welcome to Development that Pays. When I first started developing websites, I worked on my own for several years. I then went to be work as part of a team of developers. And to be honest, it was a bit of a shock to the system. The team was working on a API for a fairly major eCommerce website - it was a big step up from what I'd been doing. At that time, in that team, I just wasn't good enough. The second team was a different story: By complete fluke, they needed something that I'd already built. At THAT time in THAT team I was more than good enough. As it's turned out, these two teams have defined my low and high water marks: In every project since, as a coder I've been good enough - (or I've become good enough...) But I've never been the best coder in a team. Overall, then, I'll give myself a Coder Score of... distinctly average. Enter the Superstar Coder --- Let's say, for the sake of argument, that I'm removed from a team and an ace Coder is parachuted in to take my place. What would be different Well... certainly the coding part of the job would get done faster. No doubt about it. But it's important to realise that coding is just one part of what a developer does. (You'll notice now that I've been very careful to use the word "Coder" up until this point.) Coder vs. Developer --- The wider job of "Developer" includes all kinds that go beyond just writing code. Things like: understanding business requirements; designing solutions; writing tests; and many many other things besides. And that's just talking about the Developer as an individual operator. There's also the team to consider. How does the person work within the team Are they able to work well within an Agile environment (if indeed it is an Agile environment) Levers ---- Here's the thing: the ability of an individual developer to write code is certainly a lever. But it's a relatively short lever. The ability of the individual developer to solve problems - all the way from business requirements, through development into release ... is a longer lever. The ability of team to work together to produce software is a longer lever still. And the ability of an development team to work together with a Product Owner - together with the full support of the Business Owner - to deliver business benefit, is perhaps the longest lever of all. Talk to you next time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFtocDZEJUo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qk8gXH9_9c
